Years ago my back and neck problems became serious enough for me to again see a chiropractor.  I was never without Ibuprofen medicine to relieve my pain, but I became concerned about its associated risks such as kidney problems.  After a year and a half of regularly scheduled spinal adjustments by Dr. Niehaus, I was pain free.  So I stopped going.  Work and money took precedence over my health.  By two years later my back pain had returned, but I had also developed pronounced numbness in my right thigh and foot.  This didn’t seem too serious until I realized it was affecting my walking.  I was no longer sure-footed, and I only weigh 110 pounds and I’m not elderly!  Upon a return visit to Dr. Niehaus, I had additional X-rays and a computerized spinal exam, which lit up with a lot of red bars indicating the muscle stress points, as well as a lot of missing or short green bars indicating muscles were shutting down.  I then had an MRI, which revealed one herniated disc and another disc that was bulging.  The first week I started spinal decompression treatments I had no increase in pain level, but I was extremely tired, all over my body.  The back brace I thought I would dread wearing four hours a day became a lifesaver, especially on Sundays after church.  An hour or more of standing and motionless sitting would cause me a great deal of pain.  Starting with the second week of treatments, the excessive tiredness was gone, and my leg and foot numbness started to diminish.  By the end of the third week, my leg numbness was only a tingle.  At week four, I started taking short walks three times a week, but my back would be too tired to go for more than 10 minutes at a time.  Standing in place for longer than 5 minutes was still exhausting.  The special orthotic shoe inserts caused muscle pain in my ankles and calves for the first couple days, but now I definitely find them more comfortable than being without them.  I was surprised the treatments were not painful in the least for me.  During the half hour treatments, I listened to my religious CD so I even gained spiritually!  Several months earlier I had been diagnosed with vertigo, extreme dizziness.  When I became aware my OTC allergy medication could be causing it, I stopped taking it and the vertigo slowly subsided.  I believe the extreme amount of water I was drinking as part of my spinal treatment helped alleviate most of my allergy symptoms.  The office staff was wonderful, especially tolerant in dealing with my initial vertigo.  After finishing the five weeks of 20 treatments, I had no pain or numbness.  However, my back felt ‘fragile.’  I am now doing the strengthening exercises at the office twice a week.  I haven’t taken Ibuprofen since my first week of treatments.  I am amazed with the flexibility I have in something as simple as twisting at the waist from side to side!  Pain had caused me to limit movements a lot more than I realized, just as pain had limited my activities like golf.  The spinal decompression treatments were an expensive option as well as a considerable time commitment, but what I have learned over the years is pay now or pay later.  My options were to do nothing and possibly someday no longer be able to walk freely, or someday undergo back surgery.  Neither was acceptable.  Besides, now I can improve my golf game … well, maybe.  Thank you, Dr. Niehaus and staff!

In 1976 I fell at work, and compressed and ripped my L5 disc. Over the years, it deteriorated to nothing. The pain was constant. Surgery was not an option for me. I heard about Dr. Eric Niehaus and the DRX9000. After my first treatment, the severe pain was gone. I improved daily. I am a 79-year-old woman who had been diagnosed as having sciatica 6 years ago. I had suffered for years with excruciating back pain - especially for the last few months before coming to Dr. Niehaus. I had sought relief, with no result, through several types of pain medications, including prescription narcotics. I had spinal manipulation therapy, which gave me minimal, short term relief at times. I was having pain in my left leg and was not able to sleep on my left side and would also have severe pain in my left hip and leg when driving the car. I was seeing a chiropractic doctor for 7 years for lower back pain. It helped for short term care. I was very skeptical about the Decompression. It took me 6 months to call to make an appointment.
